Our Methodology

We are focused on four key outcomes: restorative cultivation, scaling intelligence, the net-zero transition and curative therapeutics. Our venture creation methodology results in high-quality, de-risked companies, led by teams with deep technical and commercial experience.

Identify sector level areas
Through our experience so far, we have developed our Outcomes Graph. This allows us to identify and showcase the sectors that are underperforming, relative to what is possible.

Partner with value-add industry leaders
Focusing on each sector, we join forces with the right partners. They add value to the process and assist the venture creation within these sectors, through their knowledge and expertise.

Identify specific Opportunity Areas
Within each sector, we narrow down to a specific Opportunity Area. These are the areas where problems can be identified as potential outcome opportunities, e.g. carbon neutral fuels, controlled environment agriculture, neurodegeneration.

Find the right founder
To create a venture within each Opportunity Area, we need a strong entrepreneurially-minded scientist, with broad knowledge of the sector and deep knowledge of the Opportunity Area. We identify the that person and they join the DSV team.

Deconstruct the Opportunity Area
We take a first-principles approach, analysing the Opportunity Area, evaluating current state-of-the-art MISSING WORD from literature and interviews with executives and academics, to identify the optimal technical and commercial route.

Iteratively build out the team
Around this optimal route, we iteratively build out the team, sourcing from industry and academia.

Pre-Incorporation
We integrate proven knowledge and IP to test the riskiest aspects at the earliest stage. This allows for a fully prepared state upon creating the venture.

Company launch
When everything is ready to go, the founding team spin-out from DSV. The new company is incorporated and DSV invests, alongside other industry-leading investors.
