Cancer therapies simply can’t get near the tumour cells. Immunotherapies have shown game changing results in blood cancers but most cancers, and especially some of the most aggressive ones, are surrounded by a thick ‘protective’ layer that prevents access to the immune system by physical barriers, chemical signals and inhospitable environments. We have determined that previous efforts to tackle this failed due to timing, dosing and locality but show significant promise if these factors are considered.
We have designed a bacterial delivery vehicle which naturally colonizes the cancer and can dynamically break down this environment without causing damage elsewhere.
