Solving the world's biggest challenges with science.
Deep Science Ventures brings together leading scientists
and engineers to build truly ambitious ventures.
The DSV thesis
Many of the world's challenges can be solved with cutting edge science, however the journey from research to impact is often far harder than it needs to be within the academic environment and all too often ends in failure. Meanwhile far too many smart people are building things that just don't really matter.

We believe that true advancements in society are created not by pushing technology but by the collision of almost unique technical skill around a deep passion to make a change in the world. We bring this together alongside insight on opportunities and the space, time and funding to try something truly ambitious.

Over the next 18 months we'll be deploying £2m to build the next generation of deep-tech start-ups, join us.

Read more on our thinking on the blog.

Building science driven ventures
Every 6 months we select 30 individual proto-founders from hundreds of PhDs and PostDocs across Europe, mix them with our network of experienced founders and senior academics and find venture backable solutions to areas from healthcare to food production.

We invest up to £100,000 giving you 90% of the company, helping you to bring in the big grants, get access to the ideal lab to build a prototype, access IP, create deals and work with top investors to grow the company.

Sound like fun? Learn more about what makes a great founder here and apply if that sounds like you.
Graduated projects
We came together just over 6 months ago and have already launched some extremely exciting ventures. [[examples of big name universities etc. on each of these to show our integration role in a subtle way]]
Projects underdevelopment
We recruit for ability and passion not ideas, you don't need to have a specific idea to join us or work on any of the areas that we're already excited about, we'll work with you to find the right fit and team. Here are a few of the areas where we're actively building teams in at the moment. Get in touch to join one.

DSV and the team
Deep Science Ventures evolved out of 8 years of working with academics to shape technology to fit the market at Imperial Innovations, the leading research commercialisation investor across the UKs 4 top universities. We have worked with scientists to build companies, from scratch, across domains from biochemistry to nano-tech. Many of those ventures have already gone on to considerable exits to the likes of Google (Hark, now part of DeepMind Health) and Facebook (Surreal Vision, now part of the Oculus team)....
